Difficult Listening sections test more than vocabulary. They divide attention between meaning, question order, spelling, and the next piece of information. A recovery routine prevents one missed answer from becoming five.
Predict the kind of answer
Before the recording moves on, identify whether the gap needs a place, number, noun, adjective, or short phrase. The prediction narrows what you are listening for.
Listen for paraphrase, not identical wording
The recording may express the idea with a synonym, a change in word class, or a more conversational phrase. Practise matching meaning while you review the transcript.
Recover without chasing the past
If an answer is gone, mark a sensible guess and move to the next question. During review, find the moment you lost the thread and practise that transition separately.
