Fluency is not the same as speaking quickly. It is the ability to keep meaning moving with manageable hesitation, clear connections, and enough detail to answer the question.

Practise a flexible answer shape

Use a simple sequence: answer directly, explain why, add a concrete example, then connect back to the question. The structure gives you direction without forcing you to memorise exact sentences.

Record one answer three times

On the first attempt, notice where your ideas stop. On the second, add useful detail. On the third, focus on rhythm and pronunciation. Compare the recordings rather than chasing perfection.

  • Keep Part 1 answers focused.
  • Use the Part 2 preparation minute to group ideas.
  • In Part 3, explain causes, effects, and alternatives.

Build language in useful groups

Learn collocations and sentence frames inside topics you can discuss. A small set you can retrieve naturally is more valuable than a long list you cannot use under pressure.
